SPRINGFIELD, MA – Giving Tuesday, November 30th, is on the horizon and the Mental Health Association is giving an early shout out to the Pioneer Valley Financial Group for pledging to match donations to MHA that day up to $5,000.

“No act of giving however small, is ever wasted,” said Edward Sokolowski, Pioneer Valley Financial Group’s managing partner and financial advisor, in announcing the matching grant. “We ask that local businesses join us in making our community better by supporting organizations that are helping to make this world a better place to live like MHA.”

An independent financial service, wealth management and consulting firm with offices in Ludlow and West Springfield, and a history of community engagement, Sokolowski noted the firm’s long “proud” support of MHA and the nonprofit’s mission of helping individuals live “their best life.”

“MHA has continually proved its irreplaceable value to the community through providing access to therapies for emotional health and wellness; services for substance use recovery, developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury; services for housing and residential programming, and more,” Sokolowski said. “At PV Financial, we’re also willing to lend a helping hand to organizations like MHA who are doing incredible work year in and year out.”

Despite the duress of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, MHA had much success during the last 12 months in delivery of services to the populations it serves. It opened new residential rehabilitation programs for individuals with a mental health and substance use  diagnosis, continued its day programming at its Resource Center to support both virtually and on site the independence of those with severe acquired brain injury, and expanded treatment areas in its outpatient Best Life counseling clinic for individuals and families.

“Contributions like those from the Pioneer Valley Financial absolutely fuel our tanks,” said Kimberley Lee, MHA’s Vice President of Resource Development and Branding. “Their creativity in making their donation as a match gives us a target to strive for, a little pep in our fundraising step to ensure we raise what’s needed to receive the match. We consider that a GOGO at MHA – give one, get one! We are so incredibly grateful to the Pioneer Valley Financial Group for their partnership and their unwavering belief that our work truly matters.”

Its Giving Tuesday campaign, around the theme that community support makes a difference, highlights that a donation that day to MHA will help all its programs. These include those aimed at helping individuals in recovery, those seeking safety and treatment from years of chronic homelessness and substance use and others looking to regain independence after a traumatic event that impacted their physical and cognitive abilities.

Giving Tuesday is always the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It is globally recognized as a day of kindness and support for a favorite organization.
